A few Club members spent and enjoyable 2-3 days on the Wye from Hoarwithy (near Hereford) to Monmouth over the bank holiday weekend. We’d been led to believe the river would be exceptionally low – which it was! – but we only touched-bottom a few times each day and met hordes of hire craft, club paddlers and SUPpers as we made our way leisurely down this beautiful stretch of river. Great company with the bonus of warm, dry bank holiday weather – and no accidental swims (though plenty of deliberate ones from Willow the Rayners’ golden retriever!). We had plenty of time at camp to cook, play games and chat – and to dream up ideas for future expeditions and trips: watch this space!!!
The paddlers:
- Steve & Chris (tandem canoe)
- Jess & Willow (solo canoe with dog!)
- Andy & Edith (tandem canoe – Sat & Sun)
- Pete (solo canoe)
- Anne (kayak)
