A good cohort of club paddlers turned out yesterday for some skills development and practise on the grade 2 rapids at Symonds Yat. The water level was almost perfect (could have maybe done with being a little slower!), the water wasn't cold and the sun was shining - what more could we ask for?! We split into a couple of groups, coached separately by Steve and Simon; and it was great to see everyone's confidence and skills develop throughout the day.... ... See MoreSee Less

Following a break of several years, we were delighted to be able to field a youth team in the first Welsh 4s canoe polo tournament of the season at Rhondda Sports Centre on Sun 21 Sep. The Brecon Bats under 18 team did us proud, winning their first game comfortably against Croesyceiliog; holding their own (and winning by a small margin) against Rhondda 1; and putting on a valiant defence against the onslaught of Swansea Blacks (at least scoring 2 goals despite losing the game!).... ... Tickets are now available at Sun 28 Sep 2025 ‘Easier’ White Water Skills & Safety. This is an opportunity for some of our 'newer' paddlers to learn some of the fundamental skills needed to paddle safely and in-control on 'easy' white water, using the grade 2 rapids at Symonds Yat - and for our more experienced paddlers who'd like to join in the fun (maybe try a canoe or even paddleboard for a change?!).... ... One of our members is looking for 'guinea-pigs' who'd like to join her for a day's paddling on sheltered water on Sat 11 Oct while Steve assesses her for the Paddlesport Leader award. Candidates need to be sufficiently competent to paddle on a slow-moving river and/or a windy lake - but not so competent that they don't need leading and looking after in those environments!... ...
