Steve is running a couple of ‘commercial’ courses in the next couple of months which might be of interest to club members aged 14+ who have fundamental paddling skills (NB there may be discounted places for club members – or subsidised places for those willing to help the club with coaching):
- Sat 19-Sun 20 Jul 2025 British Canoeing Awarding Body Paddlesport Instructor Course, this is an ideal ‘first-step’ on the coaching journey; it teaches participants how to run safe sessions on very sheltered water; and
- Sun 15 Jun 2025 Paddlesport Safety & Rescue Course, this is a great standalone course for anyone wanting to learn and practise sheltered water rescue skills, but is also a requirement for the Paddlesport Instructor Course (so anyone interested in that course would need to do this one as well!). NB we’ll be doing some Monday evening safety and rescue training during the next few weeks, which will be more appropriate for our newer paddlers; this course is a more intensive day aimed at those with a bit more experience.
