‘Harder’ white water on the Usk 12 Nov

Six hardy club members (and Simon’s friend John) braved the cool temperature and driving rain to set out from home on Sun 12 Nov for a ‘harder’ trip from Talybont to Llangynidr. The river was at a good, bouncy, level and the rain held off for the whole time we were on the river. We made quick progress, staying ahead of the enormous groups from other clubs who were getting ready as we set off, and were all able to challenge ourselves (with expert guidance and encouragement from Simon) to make tricky eddies, surf on waves and take lines on rapids that we hadn’t tried before. This did result in a couple of swims (giving John some rescue practise!), but as they say, if you’re not swimming, you’re not trying hard enough!! Another grand day out on the river with great paddling all round.
