Sunday 9 Jul again saw three intrepid club paddlers setting out to sea, this time at Little Haven (Pembrokeshire) for a one-way trip to Martin’s Haven – assisted by a slight tidal flow, but hindered at times by a Force 4 headwind! The first half of the trip was straightforward, sheltered from the wind by cliffs, while we got used to handling our 14-17ft sea kayaks (a bit different to 8ft white water boats). However, as we rounded headlands we were more exposed to the wind and 3ft swell, sometimes coming from several directions at once to tested our resilience and control. Nevertheless, we all made it without mishap, another great day in the fantastic surroundings of the Pembrokeshire coast.
