Aberbran to Brecon 23 Feb

With only 24 hours to go, our ‘easier’ paddlers started dropping like flies, until only one was left standing for our trip on the Usk at a perfect level today! Supported by two coaches and an experienced white-water kayaker, our newest paddler tackled everything the river threw at him (including a lot of rain!), with only a couple of wobbles; a lucky escape from a broadside stopper encounter; and an unfortunate capsize on a boily eddyline – while the others made the most of all the play features on this classic local section. Well done Mike! Let’s hope a few more of our ‘easier’ paddlers make this season’s final white water paddle on 23 March…

  • 23 Feb 2025, Usk Aberbran to Brecon, low-medium level (0.65m rising to 0.78m on Trallong gauge while we were on the water – it had risen to 1.8m 2 hours later!)
