With only 24 hours to go, our ‘easier’ paddlers started dropping like flies, until only one was left standing for our trip on the Usk at a perfect level today! Supported by two coaches and an experienced white-water kayaker, our newest paddler tackled everything the river threw at him (including a lot of rain!), with only a couple of wobbles; a lucky escape from a broadside stopper encounter; and an unfortunate capsize on a boily eddyline – while the others made the most of all the play features on this classic local section. Well done Mike! Let’s hope a few more of our ‘easier’ paddlers make this season’s final white water paddle on 23 March…
- 23 Feb 2025, Usk Aberbran to Brecon, low-medium level (0.65m rising to 0.78m on Trallong gauge while we were on the water – it had risen to 1.8m 2 hours later!)
