Our polo squad was back in action yesterday, with our A team playing their second round in the Welsh 4s League Division 2. Due to a late date change – and it being Easter Sunday – we sadly couldn’t muster the same team that had done so well in the first round; nevertheless our 4 players did themselves proud and had to work extra hard with no substitutes available to give them a rest. They played valiantly against strong competition from Aberfan B team; Croesyceiliog (mostly veterans!); and the Rhondda Rhinos women and youth teams (all of whom train and play WAY more than we do!), before their final game against Swansea C team. At half-time the Brecon Bats were 3-1 ahead but despite continuing to play their best game of the day, they conceded two goals in the closing minutes, ending with a 3-all draw (but still ahead of Swansea on goal difference). Well played Chris, Huw, Logan and Stef (supported as usual by Steve transporting boats and blowing his referee whistle!).
Final league results: Brecon Bats A team 5th; B team 11th (of a total 12 teams). Looking forward to next season!!!
