Usk Reservoir excursion

A small group of Club paddlers explored Usk Reservoir on Sunday. We were lulled into a false sense of security to start with, as the initial crossing from the launch point was unexpectedly sheltered. But we soon found ourselves heading into the teeth of a Force 3 wind as we made our way up to the inlet of the upper reaches of the River Usk, where we had a few moments of respite (see photos) before crossing to the far bank and then cruising back with the wind behind us. Easy! Especially when we put some sails up and let the wind blow us park to the launch point! All-in-all a pleasant morning with some new experiences in great company. Congratulations Tanya on your second day battling the wind in a canoe and Anne making it look easy in a kayak!
