Summer / Autumn 2026 Outline Programme

Now that we’ve come to the end of our summer term training sessions (and our coaches have been taking a short well-deserved break!), here’s an outline of what we’ve got planned for the coming months; for the time-being please contact steve.rayner@breconcanoeclub.org.uk to express interest (until he manages to find time to post the official booking pages!) – especially if you’re interested in the August weekend trips:

  • Monday evening training / social paddling sessions on the Usk at Brecon Promenade, 6.30-9pm, we may run sessions on 10 & 17 August, depending on levels of interest and availability of coaches, but we hope to include:
    • Training sessions for our polo players, including fitness, boat & ball skills and game-play (albeit without goals!); and
    • ‘Social paddling’ for those who just want to come out for an evening trip on the river
  • Sunday trips, with those on the 2nd Sunday of the month being ‘easier’ and the 4th Sundays for our more experienced paddlers (feel free to ask if you’re not sure what will be suitable for you!) – indicative locations below all subject to conditions and participants:
    • 9 Aug river or lake trip
    • 22-23 Aug canoe camping trip (poss. to include Fri 21 or Mon 23)
    • 13 Sep Symonds Yat moving water skills training
    • 27 Sep Tryweryn White Water (TBC)
    • 11 Oct Cardiff White Water
    • 25 Oct and subsequent 4th Sundays – ‘Harder’ White Water trips
    • 8 Nov and subsequent 2nd Sundays – ‘Easier’ White Water trips
  • Polo events: we’re trying to organise a couple of training sessions during the summer in advance of Welsh 4s Div 2 tournaments 6 & 27 Sep – if we can get enough of you together!
  • Pool training sessions will re-commence on Monday evenings from 7 Sep; 7-9pm at Brecon Leisure Centre; programme to be confirmed but likely to alternate between
    • General training for beginners / ‘wet skills’ (including rolling); and
    • Polo training for our polo squads (NB we’ll be looking for new players, especially youths!!)

Watch this space for further details – and in the meantime Have a Great Summer!!!
