Spring 2026 Outline Programme

Now that we’ve come to the end of our winter pool sessions and white water season, here’s an outline of what we’ve got planned for the coming months; for the time-being please contact steve.rayner@breconcanoeclub.org.uk to express interest (until he manages to find time to post the official booking pages!):

  • Monday evening training / social paddling sessions on the Usk at Brecon Promenade, 6.30-9pm, 13 Apr-13 Jul (May bank holidays TBC). Details to be confirmed, depending on levels of interest and availability of coaches, but we hope to include the following (mostly free for those with their own boats, c.£5 per session for those hiring craft):
    • ‘Social paddling’ for those who just want to come out for an evening trip on the river
    • Personalised flat-water skills coaching for kayak, canoe and paddleboard
    • Courses for beginners / developers, 11 May-8 Jun and 15 Jun-13 Jul (working towards the British Canoeing Paddle Discover, Explore and Safer Awards)
    • Training sessions for our polo players, including fitness, boat & ball skills and game-play (albeit without goals!)
  • Sunday trips, with those on the 2nd Sunday of the month being ‘easier’ and the 4th Sundays for our more experienced paddlers (feel free to ask if you’re not sure what will be suitable for you!) – indicative locations below all subject to conditions and participants:
    • 4-12 April Scotland White Water (for a few of our ‘harder’ paddlers!)
    • 26 Apr surf or Cardiff White Water
    • 10 May easier trip TBC
    • 24 May sea trip (TBC as it’s Bank Holiday weekend!)
    • 14 Jun canal trip (part of our beginners course but open to all!)
    • 28 Jun sea trip
    • 12 Jul river trip Glasbury-Hay followed by AGM & BBQ
    • 26 Jul sea trip
    • 9 Aug river or lake trip
    • 22-23 Aug canoe camping trip (poss. to include Fri 21 or Mon 23)
    • 13 Sep Symonds Yat moving water skills training
    • 27 Sep Tryweryn White Water
    • 11 Oct Cardiff White Water
  • Polo events: we’ll try to organise a couple of ‘friendly’ outdoor tournaments (e.g. Llandrindod, Swansea, Bristol) during the summer; and will look out for any ‘official’ tournaments we could enter (including the Welsh Open 1-2 Aug) – if we can get enough of you together for a team

Watch this space for further details – and in the meantime Have a Great Easter!!!
