A somewhat-depleted team made the journey to Cheltenham in the ‘team bus’ (Steve’s fully-loaded wagon!) yesterday for the second and final round of this year’s Southwest Regional Canoe Polo League. With only 5 paddlers and no substitutes, we had our work cut-out for us (especially Steve who had to referee all the games we weren’t playing AND, unusually as our ‘veteran’ – polite way of saying ‘old’ – player, having to play full-time AND drive all the way there and back…). However, we not only survived but came away feeling we’d done our best and improved throughout the competition – despite drawing only one game and losing all others – and had fully earned our KFC stop on the way home. And Chris R, having come along as out team supporter, found herself (supported by Jess) managing the score-table in the absence of the league organiser – thanks, Chris! Well-played Chris D, Jess, Mike, Sam Ha and Steve R – and roll on next season…
