Our ‘harder’ white water paddlers (well, three of us at least) were in action again today (Phil – don’t forget your spray-deck next time!). Given general low water levels we had decided to travel to Bridgend to paddle the Ogwr Fawr (Ogmore), rather than repeating (again!) our local Talybont to Llangynidr run on the Usk. Last year we’d paddled this stretch for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, levels were even lower this time and we found ourselves frequently stuck on rocks and sadly most of the play features we found last time weren’t there today. Ah well, we now know what’s the minimum level worth paddling this one (a bit higher than it was today)!!! Nevertheless, it was good to get out paddling all the same – let’s hope for more water next time…
