Last trip on the Usk this winter!

Edith, Jim, Nairi, Peter M, Rhiannon and Steve braved the winter chill for a trip on the Usk today from Aberbran to Brecon – our last trip before this river’s salmon fishing season starts next week. Despite the low temperatures, winter sun made it feel quite warm at times and Jim & Nairi didn’t seem to suffer for their swims (nor Peter & Rhiannon for their rolls)! It was great to see our youngsters’ confidence growing throughout the day, with waves galore to cross and surf – and a good chance for Peter to practice skills learned on his recent White Water Safety & Rescue course! Well done everyone – and congratulations to Rhiannon for completing the final elements of the British Canoeing White Water Award. We’re looking forward to the next trip (probably on the Wye) in a couple of weeks’ time…

2022 swims to date: Fraser: 1; Jim: 1; Nairi: 4; Phil H: 3; Rhiannon: 1; Sam: 8; Siobhan: 1; Tanya: 2
