We’re in the early stages of planning next year’s foreign white water trip. At the moment we’re looking at two possible options:
- a return to Slovenia for ‘advanced’ (grade 3-4) kayaking – suitable for those who are already comfortable on grade 2-3 rivers; or
- a trip to the French Massif Central (e.g. Allier / Ardeche / Lot rivers) for more ‘moderate’ paddling (grade 2-3) – which would open up the trip to newer paddlers (some of whom might only be starting white water for the first time this winter); also to canoes as well as kayaks – and could be a more chilled affair to attract partners etc. (though it won’t be in school holidays).
The dates are still to be confirmed but will be one of the following blocks of 9 days (although not everyone would necessarily need to be there the whole period):
- 15-23 May (maybe too early in year for Massif Central)
- 5-13 Jun (good dates for either venue)
- 10-18 Jul (OK for both but busier with lower water)
We already have a ‘core group’ lined up and there’s lots still to be decided (including travel and accommodation options); but it would help to know ASAP who else might be interested so we can plan to suit as many as possible.
