Sat 19-Sun 20 Jul 2025 British Canoeing Awarding Body Paddlesport Instructor Course

This is a commercial course being run by Steve, discounted places may be available to BCC members, depending on numbers. More details from Steve or via his website (‘more info’ button below).

The perfect course for anyone aged 14 or over wanting to take their first steps into leading or coaching sessions in kayaks, canoes or SUPs!

Participants need to:

1. be Full Members of Paddle Cymru / Paddle UK (etc.);
2. register for the Award with Paddle Cymru / Paddle UK (etc.) – cost c.£48;
3. have attended a British Canoeing Awarding Body Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Training course at least 2 weeks beforehand – such as the one running on 15 Jun; and
4. have personal paddling (equivalent to the former 2*-level) and rescue competence in one type of craft (kayak, open canoe, sit on top, or stand up paddleboard).

The course will take place on the River Usk at Brecon Promenade and / or the canal in Brecon, or another local venue (depending on water conditions).

NB we will aim to arrange a Zoom meeting one evening 7-9pm before this course to run through some of the introductory and ‘theoretical’ elements.
