DESCRIPTION:This will be our last summer training evening of the term\, so will be mainly ‘fun and games’! We’ll aim to bring along a variety of craft to play around with (canoes\, SUPs\, maybe even a couple of sea kayaks…). \n\n\n\nNB for those of our ‘Learn to Paddle’ participants\, you are VERY WELCOME to join us\, but this is not part of ‘the course’ so you’ll need to ‘get tickets’ for this one (you’ll also need to join us as members\, but we’ll sort this out afterwards as Steve will be away from tomorrow until the 14th!).

SUMMARY:Sat 19-Sun 20 Jul 2025 British Canoeing Awarding Body Paddlesport Instructor Course
DESCRIPTION:This is a commercial course being run by Steve\, discounted places may be available to BCC members\, depending on numbers. More details from Steve or via his website (‘more info’ button below). \n\n\n\nThe perfect course for anyone aged 14 or over wanting to take their first steps into leading or coaching sessions in kayaks\, canoes or SUPs! \n\n\n\nParticipants need to: \n\n\n\n\nbe Full Members of Paddle Cymru / Paddle UK (etc.);\n\n\n\nregister for the Award with Paddle Cymru / Paddle UK (etc.) – cost c.£48;\n\n\n\nhave attended a British Canoeing Awarding Body Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Training course at least 2 weeks beforehand – such as the one running on 15 Jun; and\n\n\n\nhave personal paddling (equivalent to the former 2*-level) and rescue competence in one type of craft (kayak\, open canoe\, sit on top\, or stand up paddleboard).\n\n\n\n\nThe course will take place on the River Usk at Brecon Promenade and / or the canal in Brecon\, or another local venue (depending on water conditions). \n\n\n\nNB we will aim to arrange a Zoom meeting one evening 7-9pm before this course to run through some of the introductory and ‘theoretical’ elements.

DESCRIPTION:Another trip for ‘all-comers’ (including unaccompanied youngsters – as long as you can manage 5-8 miles in a straight-ish line!). Probably somewhere on the Wye between Hay and Monmouth\, we’ll confirm details nearer the time. Please ‘get tickets’ (or e-mail us) to express interest ASAP so we have an idea who’d like to come and can plan accordingly… Usual £10 boat hire for those that need; and shared transport can be arranged.
