SUMMARY:Sat 7 Sep Youth Canoe Polo Competition - Barry Dock
DESCRIPTION:Let Steve know ASAP if you’re interested in this\, so we can either put in a Club Team or submit individual entries \nBridgend Canoe Club is hosting a Youth Canoe Polo Competition at Barry Dock on Saturday 7th September 2019. The competition will be open to any paddler who was age 17 or under on 1/1/2019 – depending on entries\, we will look at either running U16’s and U18’s categories\, or just U18s if that looks like it might be best. The focus will very much be on development and participation\, and most importantly\, having fun\, so is open to ALL abilities 🙂 \nWe would love to hear from any other youth paddlers who may want to compete\, as we will happily welcome (and encourage) individual paddlers (and we can then arrange people into teams)\, or whole teams (up to 8 per team). So feel free to pass this message on to anyone you know who may be interested 🙂 \nThe cost is £5 per person. Hopefully this will be a nice way to kick off youth polo for the coming season 🙂 \nPlease download an entry form (Word doc) and send the completed form to:\npr.bridgendcc@gmail.com \nWe aim to start around 10am and finish by 5pm\, but timings will depend on how many entries we get\, so we will finalise this nearer the time. \nWe will offer hot drinks\, cold drinks\, sandwiches\, cakes and a tuck shop. \nWe can provide equipment to those who need it. \nThe venue is Barry Community Water Activity Centre (BCWAC)\, Barry CF62 5AA.

SUMMARY:5-7 July Summer Training Weekend
DESCRIPTION:This training weekend (joint with North Avon Canoe Club) is based on the River Wye at Biblins (near Monmouth) and is an IDEAL OPPORTUNITY for all our Monday evening paddlers to extend their skills and experience. \n\n\n\nAccommodation is in rudimentary bunkhouse dormitories or camping. Unaccompanied children are welcome\, or non-paddling parents are welcome to join us for the weekend. \n\n\n\nCourses are delivered by a mixture of qualified coaches and experienced paddlers from North Avon and Brecon Canoe Club.  Tell us about what you are interested in learning from the weekend and we will do our best to include it in the sessions.  There are a number of courses to choose from.  All will help you to develop skills needed for the qualification you are working towards or be a great introduction to paddling or improving your skills on moving water.  Courses are subject to demand and sufficient numbers*.  Please indicate an alternative choice on the booking form. \n\n\n\nCanoe beginners and improvers Learn to paddle efficiently and control your boat with style on moving water.  A great introduction to canoeing skills or a chance to develop more advanced skills if you have some canoe experience.   Canoe Award (Like the old 3 star award) – involves assessment on both lake and river.  Subject to sufficient demand (group of  4-6) Kayak beginners and improvers Learn to paddle efficiently and control your boat on moving water.  A great introduction to basic white water kayaking skills or a chance to develop more skills if you have some kayaking experience. Foundation Safety and Rescue Training course (FSRT)* The objective of this training course is to teach simple and safe skills that can provide the tools to problem solve simple common paddling scenarios in flat/sheltered water regardless of the craft.  You will learn skills which will enable you to ensure the safety of yourself and others; and appropriate rescue skills which can be used to help you and/or others in difficulty These skills then form the foundations for safety and rescue throughout British Canoeing awards.  Theory on Friday evening\, course on Saturday.  Paddle with the group on Sunday.  Subject to sufficient demand (group of  4-6) Free Spirits Spend Saturday on the Symonds Yat rapids practising your skills with experienced paddlers to guide you and then paddle with the group on Sunday.  Opportunity to learn a few freestyle skills if you wish! River Wye –  2 day trips* Enjoy two day paddles on the River Wye in canoes or kayaks. General Paddle/Non paddler Use Biblins as a base for paddling on the River Wye and Symonds Yat without taking part in a course.  Or join in the fun without paddling – there’s some great walking\, cycling or just sitting reading a book possibilities! \n\n\n\n\n	*Subject to demand and availability of coaches \n\n\n\nWe will try to accommodate your choice\, but cannot guarantee it; sessions delivered will depend on group sizes and availability of coaches.  Poor weather conditions or high/low water levels may force us to change locations/plans.  Whatever happens we will do our best to ensure you have fun! \n\n\n\n To book places\, complete and return the following form to Steph at North Avon Canoe Club by 30 June. \n\n\n\nBooking-details-and-consent-forms-for-Biblins-Weekend-2019Download
