Post-Lockdown Plans

None of knows exactly what the First Minister will announce in his review on Friday, but it seems most likely that lockdown will continue for the foreseeable future: we strongly suspect that the earliest we’ll be able to resume Club activities will be Easter. However, we’re planning for the best and will aim to offer the following activities as soon as we’re able:

Pool Sessions

If we’re allowed back into the pool before Easter, we’ll run some Monday evening pool sessions. Although this seems very unlikely, we’ll keep the dates on our events list for now…

Outdoor Training – Wednesday Evenings

We’ll aim to start weekly outdoor training sessions as soon as we’re able after Easter. These will be on Wednesday evenings (not Mondays) this year (so that we can quarantine equipment for 72-hours between weekend trips and evening training sessions) – and as usual will be based at Brecon Promenade from 6.30 to 9pm.

Weekend Trips and Events

We’ll be aiming to run a trip or event on the 2nd and 4th Sunday (or occasionally Saturday) of each month as soon as we’re allowed to. Details will depend on what Members are interested in, but are likely to include a combination of:

  • ‘Progressive’ trips starting on the canal and working towards white water adventure;
  • Flat-water trips to explore some of our local waters – canals, rivers, lakes and reservoirs; and
  • Occasional training ‘events’, possibly working towards British Canoeing Awards.

Once we have an idea of when we might be able to re-start, we’ll ask for your input on what you’d most like to do and will finalise plans to get out paddling as soon as we can!

In the meantime – STAY SAFE
